Marcella Steingart

Marcella Steingart is a writer, director and producer who specializes in crafting non-fiction character-driven pieces with a strong storytelling sensibility.  She has worked on award-winning documentaries, television series, short films and branded content for clients like BBC, Discovery Channel, Sundance Channel, PBS, OWN, Al Jazeera America, The Daily Beast, GAP, IBM and Google. She also helped create and helm a successive YouTube channel, THNKR which offers over 350 video designed to educate and entertain. Steingart directs and produces corporate, brand, and non-profit shorts with DB Productions.

Steingart has conducted interviews with MacArthur winning artists, child prodigies, rock stars, high ranking military leaders, celebrities, convicted felons and victims of violence. She has captured stories in places like Afghanistan, Ghana, Guatemala, Alaska, Beverly Hills, LA and Brooklyn, New York. Some acclaimed work includes documentary feature Beauty Academy of Kabul, the popular Sundance Channel series Iconoclasts, the NAACP Image Award winning series Oprah’s Master Class, the IBM short film series Watson which was a recipient of a Gold Lion and Prodigies, a YouTube show about gifted children which received the International Academy of Web TV Award for best documentary series.

Steingart is currently working on a screenplay based on one New Yorker’s unique experience during the 9/11 attacks. She began her career writing screenplays and treatments after earning her MFA from NYU Tisch School of Film and Television. Her screenplay, Larvae, which she co-wrote, was awarded an Alfred P. Sloan grant and placed as a finalist for the Academy Nicholl Fellowship.
