Johanna Hamilton’s Critically Acclaimed “1971” Premieres on PBS

On March 8, 1971, a brave group of ordinary citizens broke into a FBI office in Media, Pennsylvania, took hundreds of secret files, and shared them with the public. Their actions exposed the FBI’s vast and illegal surveillance program of American citizens. The FBI never solved the mystery of the break-in, and the citizens continued to remain anonymous.

Until now.

Watch their riveting story unfold for the first time through exclusive interviews, rare primary documents from the break-in and ensuing investigation, national news coverage, and dramatic reenactments.
