Director Kristi Jacobson Premieres SOLITARY at Tribeca Film Festival

After over 3 years in the making, we are happy to congratulate Director Kristi Jacobson on her new documentary film, SOLITARY, which premiered in New York at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival.

SOLITARY reveals and explores the often hidden aspects of solitary confinement–isolation and segregation methods implemented on 100,000 inmates in US prisons across the country.

Director Kristi Jacobson sheds light on the day-to-day life in Red Onion State Prison, a supermax prison in rural Virginia where inmates spend 23 hours a day in eight-by-ten-foot-cells. This moving film uncovers stories from both sides of the bars, from correction officers to the inmates who struggle to maintain their sanity in their daily isolation. SOLITARY provides a unique, revelatory window into the lives of those immersed in this system, prompting viewers to question how the US Justice system enforces punishment in America today.
